Unlike several of her compatriots, Zvonareva hasn't converted her early promise into success at the highest level. She has plenty of shots in her locker, but one of the major factors in her failing to fulfil her potential has been a mental frailty - she is a player who has been known to cry on court when things have gone badly. A wrist injury kept her away from SW19 last year but she is in decent form, having won on the Prague clay and reached three other finals this season.
