One of few players on the WTA Tour whose favourite surface is grass, the Russian was a junior Wimbledon finalist in 2003. A quarter-finalist in Australia and France and semi-finalist at the US Open last year, Chakvetadze has made no impact at this year's first two majors. Won the warm-up event in Den Bosch 12 months ago but lost out in the third round at SW19 to an inspired Michaela Krajicek. Has been in poor form since winning in Paris in February but if she can get her game together she could be a difficult opponent.
